A little thing happened….

A few months ago an email went out from a card company. You may have heard of them, Minted. Any who, the email came out wanting recommendation for photographers to collaborate with.

We’re going to back up just a second. See, one of my dearest friends is a designer for Minted. I am her official biggest fan (just ask her) . And you see, i have been ordering my Christmas cards, invitations, name tags, calandars, among other items from them for years. So, the email went out. I of course saw it and my mind began to think about what it could look like for me. As a photographer the greatest gift you can receive is seeing your work in print. I know this and live it each and every year through graduation announcements, and Christmas cards. On those special occasions you are welcomed into someones home and you see your images framed on a wall or a beautiful canvas. You want to make a photographer have all the happy feels PRINT THEIR WORK and display it.

Back to Minted. I had my fingers crossed someone would send my name their way. Fingers crossed worked. I was contacted and asked to open a storefront via their website. All in all this meant if one of my clients ordered their cards through my storefront my name would be on the card as photographer along with the name of the designer of the card. Now, I know for most this doesn't seem like a big thing. For us creatives our name is our business. It’s recognition of our craft. It’s a big deal.

Then a little (big) thing happened. I received a card in the mail. A minted card. There on the card were my images, I turned the card over and there is my name Photography By Terri Calla Photography. The best part, two of the three cards I received had my designer bestie Art By Carrie O’Neal right above mine.

When we cheer for others successes we succeed. I have learned watching others achieve goals and dreams is one of the greatest gifts we are given. From watching your chubby legged baby walk, your teenager receive a national honor society pin, your husband finally get his dream job, watching your dyslexic daughter read a book front to back without being forced, meeting your best friends on a random Monday in December to see one of them walk down a Target isle to see her “little la la” wrapping paper there for the world to make Christmas pretty. When we cheer eachother on the world gives it back to us in spades. It’s the most beautiful thing.
