CeCe & Caleb
Ask me about the time I shot a wedding spontaneously in Peru.
Believe it or not the first time I ever went on a trip without my family was 2018. I was turning 40 the next month I decided to attend our church mission trip. They always had a photographer to capture the trip. I was thrilled to be going. Ten days in Peru. I will blog the actual trip sometime in the future. Here I want to share how I ended up shooting a wedding while I was there.
We arrived on a Monday. CeCe and Caleb were two of the 39 people we were traveling with. Newly engaged (a couple weeks actually) CeCe was one of my roommates. The madly in love couple approached me Tuesday afternoon wanting to ask me a question. They asked if they had their wedding in Peru would I photograph it for them? I of course said YES. Then I proceed to flip out. I called Rachel one of my mentors who I had been second shooting wedding with for a few years, she of curse calmed me down and told me I could do this. Wedding plans were underway.
Mission trip in progress: wedding dress, flowers, location. It all fell into place flawlessly.
On Friday January 19th 2018 CeCe and Caleb were married along the shoreline of Playa la Bikini Lima, Peru.
The Brooks family just welcomed Miss Lylah Faith to the bunch. She joins her two big brothers Casen and Cohen.
A huge shout out to CeCe, Caleb and my behind the scene shooter Brock for capturing me in action. The newlyweds were game when I said “how do you guys feel about getting a little wet?” These are my favorite shots of the whole day. And the churro I ate after I had completed the task. It was the best Churro I’d ever had.
